What is IELTS?

International English Language Test System: IELTS is an English language proficiency test for aspirants willing to study work or migrate to an English-speaking country or university. There are two types of IELTS exam, IELTS Academic test is for those going to study and IELTS General training test is for those going for work or to file a permanent residency.

IELTS Facts

  • The applicant must be above 16 years or age and have a valid travel document (passport).
  • Aspirants can appear for IELTS four times in a month.
  • The result of an IELTS exam is declared after 13 days of exam conducted
  • IELTS score is valid for up to 2 years

Exam Pattern/Sections for IELTS Academic

Listening (Duration 30 minutes)

The listening section of the exam examines the applicant's ability of understanding of idea and factual information. The listening section consists of four recordings of native English speakers and a series of questions.

Reading (Duration 60 minutes)

The IELTS reading section comprises questions that analyze the reading ability of ideas, understanding logics, reading between lines and understanding writer's opinions, purpose and attitude..

Speaking (Duration 11-15 minutes)

The speaking section simply examines the applicant's ability to communicate effortlessly, students will be asked to speak about themselves.

Writing (Duration 60 minutes)

The IELTS section is to examine the writing ability, students will be given a diagram or a graph of general interest or topic which need to be described or summarized in a word. Also students need to write an essay about the same diagram or graph. Note: Student should answer the questions in formally.
